I can't put my arms...up

Yesterday was my first day in the free weight room over at the gym after a long hiatus. So today I am in the hurt bag. My chest, triceps, biceps, and shoulders are all sore. Ibuprofen is my new best friend. But I'm determined to recapture some of my former strength, even if it makes me look like I am suffering from some strange disease for a week or two.

i just read something interesting on mayoclinic.com. they say that actually, if you're using the right amount of weight, you only need to do one set of 12-15 reps. you know you're lifting the right amount if the last rep is very difficult to complete. they say there's no evidence that greater strength is built with more sets/reps. now if mayo can just come up with someway to magically take away the lactic acid...

Yeah. I'm doing three sets of 10, going up each time until I can't get all of them on the last set. But mutliple exercises on the same muscle group until they completely give out is a prescription for ouchy days for a while.
